Resilience of International Supply Chains

Since 2019, SBCF & Cie. has been part of research projects in the fields of cybersecurity and the resilience of international supply chains – under the leadership of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ulrike Lechner, Chair of Business Information Systems at the Department of Computer Science, Universität der Bundeswehr München.

Research Project NutriSafe

Food supply chains are vulnerable – to crises, disruptions and, increasingly, to digital attacks. In the bilateral German-Austrian research project NutriSafe, universities, companies and public authorities explored how the production and logistics of food can be made more secure, more transparent and more resilient using blockchain and distributed ledger technology: seamless traceability from producer to shelf, protection against the manipulation of data and systems, and stable supply even in times of crisis.

SBCF & Cie. was a partner in the German consortium and contributed the business management perspective – from blockchain-based business models and business processes through to the resilience of value chains. The insights gained from NutriSafe inform our advisory work today, wherever supply chains, digitalisation and enterprise value intersect.

RESEARCH OUTCOME

NutriSafe-Toolkit

The project's central outcome is a modular toolkit under an open-source licence: blockchain-based technologies, data models, business processes and business models – complemented by legal and security-related considerations for practical application.
